As parents, we often assume that if our children are terrific readers, they should also be terrific at spelling. But reading and spelling are actually opposite skills. Remember as you look at the Spelling You See placement guidelines, the overarching goal of placement is to be able to read the placement paragraph without a challenge.  The target words are established for you to have a minimum Lexile score for the passages, but should not be the final decision for your placement.
